well first off, start by getting a grasp of the way that powershell works, some good resources for that are:

http://msevents.microsoft.com/CUI/WebCastEventDetails.aspx?culture=en-US&EventID=1032314395&EventCategory=3

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=B4720B00-9A66-430F-BD56-EC48BFCA154F&displaylang=en

from there, its easy to start building off of your base knowledge and start including vmware cmdlets...

some good resources for that are:

http://blogs.vmware.com/vipowershell/
http://blogs.vmware.com/vipowershell/files/vmworld_europe_2008_powershell_lab_7_manual.pdf
http://communities.vmware.com/blogs/DeveloperCenter/2009/01/14/an-introduction-to-scripting-vi-using-perl-or-powershell

and as always, we are here to help as well!
